"And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads."  -Revelation 7:2-3

Barry Mosier & April Mosier
Third World Missions : Opportunities and Challenges
2012 Redwood Camp Meeting

"Third World Missions: Opportunities and Challenges" - This seminar will compare various opportunities for short and long-term mission service through the church and supporting ministries. Some ministries suggest that almost every member is called to sell what they have and go overseas. Is this balanced, or are most of us called to serve here in America? Are more missionaries really needed overseas? For those who might feel a calling, are there obligations or limitations that might reduce a person's chances for successful overseas mission service? Should people go in faith alone or make careful financial plans? Barry Mosier will discuss these topics in view of his 11 years of experience in a supporting ministry in Africa.
Barry and April will share the gripping story of how their family survived a deadly airplane crash in April 2008 in which 47 people died and over 100 were injured. April tore a hole in the side of the airplane with her hands - saving the lives of many of the passengers on board, including her family. After the crash, their family became the first American missionary family to move back to the Congo River Basin after the 10-year war that killed over five million people. The family joined son Keith in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo, with no other American missionary families within 300 miles and little Adventist presence. How does one begin to reach 15 million people? Hear how God led in the building of an evangelism training school and the placement of 60 church plants. Other miracles include the beginning of a radio station, a well drilling ministry, and the construction of Maranatha One-Day Churches. Barry and April will also share stories about their work among one of the most primitive peoples - the Pygmies. "The story of God's providential leading in the lives of the Mosier family is a modern-day miracle," said Mark Finley. "Their remarkable experience in the Congo will rekindle the spirit of missions in your own life. It will inspire your heart, deepen your trust in God, and confirm your confidence in His leading.

A graduate of Union College, Barry Mosier is a CPA by profession. He and his wife Marybeth have five children, including daughter April. April has lived 11 of her 18 years in Tanzania and the Congo. She was home schooled and is now finishing her secondary education. April lived three years on a frontier mission station in the war-torn country of the Congo. She speaks fluent Swahili and has preached evangelistic meetings in that language.  His family was the first American missionary family to move to the Congo River Basin area after the 10-year war that killed over five million people. Together with their son Keith, they also pioneered work among the Pygmy people.
